This week I've been working on another commission - building a multi-plane table for Bethan and Harry to use on the Kodak film competition. It took 6 hours in total to build, across 2 days. All of the materials were found (apart from the screws), which helped to keep the production budget at a minimum.
- This helps test and keep up my carpentry skills
- The found materials (eg. the wood), kept the production value down
- It took a relatively short time to build which is good when it comes to commissions (I enjoy jumping straight into a project rather than planning for it)
Criticism
- It took a long time to get all four legs to be the same height without power tools
- It would have been better if I worked out how much I was charging before I made it
- I find it harder negotiating a price with my friends compared to charging a stranger for my work
